10 Food Trend Predictions for 2017

2016 was a huge year for food with poke, #avotoast, and smoothie bowls popping up in restaurants and on Insta feeds worldwide! Here is a list of food trends that we predict will invade the culinary world in 2017!
1) Turmeric Lattes
Swap out the still delicious and super healthy matcha latte for a golden turmeric latte. Turmeric is an immune booster and anti-inflammatory root that looks similar to a ginger root. If you can’t get your hands on the fresh stuff, turmeric powder is still just as good!

Marble isn’t just for countertops anymore! The trend has gone full force now with marbled food on the rise. We predict marbled treats like meringues, macarons and icing will be HUGE on social media this year! #yum

3) Chilled Red Wine
You didn’t read this wrong – we know what you might be thinking! We aren’t suggesting you chill your heavy bodied pinot noir, but lighter reds like Beaujolais and Grenache with a fruitier style. Chilling will bring out the brightness and lightness!

4) Purple Food
The colour of antioxidants and immunity boosting power, purple food is popping up everywhere! Purple Peruvian potatoes, blue corn tortillas, even purple cereal! We are long past the days of purple ketchup of the early ‘00s!

5) Savoury Yogurt
Vanilla and strawberry yogurt are a thing of the past. It’s time to dive into the world of natural yogurts swirled with beetroot, sweet potato and even tomato! 2017 is looking to be an adventurous year for food, indeed!

8) Flexitarian Eating
Instead of cutting dairy, gluten or meat out of your diet and going cold turkey, folks are making their own rules when it comes to food! Going paleo on weekdays or eating vegan before 6pm. It’s all about what makes you feel good!
