17 Cool Summer Events For Summer In Toronto 2017

In YYZ, there are always fun events and things to do but it can be hard to choose! With the help of Expedia.ca, we put together a list of 17 super fun events you can't miss in Toronto this summer! We'll see you there! 

1. Woofstock 2017 

Woofstock is North America’s largest festival for dogs and the people who love them!

This furr-tastic event takes place on Saturday May 27 and Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Woodbine Park and it is a one-stop doggie shopping extravaganza, with all things canine! There will be free surf lessons, fashion shows with a best costume award and even the crowning of Mr. & Ms. Canine Canada! Insert heart eye emoji here! 

The event has entertainment, contests and a consumer showcase with vendors offering up the latest in canine fashions, furnishings, products and food! 

New this year the Woofstock Games, an Olympic-style sporting event for dogs. Food trucks will be onsite or enjoy a Wooftini! 

Tickets: $10 in advance, $12 at the door. Dogs and children under 10 are FREE!

2. Foodalicious at Downsview Park 

Foodalicious is a new annual event that celebrates gourmet street food, bringing together some of the best food trucks that Toronto has to offer. This savoury and sweet event runs at Downsview Park from June 10 to 11, 2017.

Did we mention there's a beer garden, live entertainment AND rides for kids or those of us who are still kids at heart? Count us in! 

Several of the popular food vendors at Foodalicious include: Mustache Burger, Johnny Roccos Pizza Wagon, Busters Sea Cove, Ontario Corn Roasters, Pronto Pasta and La Fiesta!

NXNE’s annual Port Lands Festival returns for its 2nd year with a dope lineup like Passion Pit, Tyler the Creator and Post Malone to name a few! The festival also features comedy, food, art installations, midway rides and games!

4. Summerlicious TO

During Summerlicious, Toronto’s top restaurants offer up a wide variety of diverse and innovative cuisine through prix-fixe menus! Foodies can dine for a lot less on the specially created lunches and dinners from some of the city’s best restos. Lunches cost between $18 and $28, and dinner will be between $28 and $48! #foodporn

5. Waterfront Artisan Market

Back for its second year, the Waterfront Artisan Market makes Toronto’s waterfront come alive every Saturday from May 20 until October in HTO Park! Presented by The Waterfront Business Improvement Area (BIA) and operated by Scadding Court Community Centre, Toronto’s waterfront open-air market features a beautifully curated mix of 75 local up-and-coming artisans, crafters, chefs and bakers! We can't wait!

6. Luminato Festival

Luminato Festival is Toronto’s global multi-arts festival dedicated to performance, visual art, music, theatre, dance, and magic! With over 100 specially commissioned new works of art, over 3,000 performances and13,000+ artists, this years fest will kick serious butt! 

This years festival will be host to two Canadian-made world premieres: Bearing, a dance opera by Michael Greyeyes & Yvette Nolan of Signal Theatre and King Arthur’s Night co-created by Niall McNeil with Marcus Youssef & James Long of Neworld Theatre!

7. The Trinity Bellwoods Flea 

The Trinity Bellwoods Flea Market a bi-monthly carefully curated shopping event that allows vendors to sell locally and shoppers to buy locally! The goal is to have a good mix of everything so there is something for everyone! With a focus heavily on diversity, the goal is to connect local shoppers with Toronto's best and on trend fashion, vintage, handmade, home decor and food vendors!  

There is a market every month from May 21 until December 22nd!  

First one is May 21 from 10am-5pm 

8. Doors Open Toronto

For one weekend a year, buildings across Toronto open their doors to the public during the Doors Open Toronto festival! 

Over 150 buildings of cultural, historical and social importance will open up to the public this year!

A number of walking tours are hosted in several buildings, featuring stories of local history filled with mysteries and spirits.

9. Riverside Eats & Beats Streetfest

Riverside’s 5th annual Eats & Beats Street Festival is celebrating Ontario and Canada’s 150th anniversary and our Indigenous roots with special events and festivities! The festival runs across Queen Street from the DVP to De Grassi with local shops and restautants opening their doors for tasting plates and music!

The festival includes a variety of destination points at four street closures with live music and entertainment with sounds ranging from Samba, Indigenous music, New Orleans-style Jazz, Roots/Rock and Children’s music!

10. Toronto Life 2017 Doughnut Festival at Dufferin Mall

A festival centered around doughnuts? We are soooo there! Celebrate with your fellow doughnut lovers at Dufferin Mall on Sunday, June 25th from 12-4pm! The festival boasts pretty much any type of doughnut you could think of, plus Toronto Life's best ranked doughnuts will be available for you to test and try out!

11. Junction Summer Solstice Festival

A community on the grow, the increasingly vibrant and exciting neighbourhood of The Junction celebrates the Junction Summer Solstice Festival. The street festival features live entertainment, fresh food, and a Ferris wheel! This is a great event for the whole family, as that long day of celebrating turns to night! When the sun goes down, the festivities switch to a special night flea market and several movie screenings to make it a solstice to remember! 

This year features over 50 different vendors with special items and sales available. A few are even holding special workshops. 

The festival takes place on Saturday, June 24th from 12pm to 12am!

12. Canada Day Fireworks at Harbourfront Centre

The Harbourfront Centre celebrates Canada Day with a live music, a history exhibit, and a fireworks display! 

Fireworks are really the most exciting part of Canada Day celebrations, so don't miss out! They start at 10:30 on June 30!

13. Beaches International Jazz Festival

The annual Beaches International Jazz Festival showcases jazz, blues, big band, vocalists, African, Caribbean, reggae, hip-hop, South American, Latin, rhythm and blues and more!  The event takes places at several venues across the Queen East/Beaches area and boasts an eclectic line-up! 

The fest includes workshops, jam sessions, kids events and a street fest on top of the performances!

14. Lolë White Tour

Lolë White Tour returns for the second year in Toronto this July with a sunset yoga session at Exhibition Place! 

Yogis of all levels and experience are invited to a spiritual and inspiring blissful practice under the setting sun. Celebrated local and international instructors will lead a 15-minute guided meditation—new to the tour this year—and yoga class, accompanied by soothing live music while facing the picturesque Princes’ Gates and the spectacular skyline of Toronto!

15. The Colour Run Dream Tour 

The Colour Run is a unique 5K paint race that celebrates health, happiness, and individuality! Also known as the “Happiest 5K on the planet,” there are no winners or official times during this race, catering to everyone from first-time runners to seasoned athletes.

Runners will experience the classic Color Zones and the brand new Foam Zone, where they’re surrounded by dreamy colored foam or “clouds” as they run through the most colorful dream of all. After crossing the Finish Line, Color Runners enjoy the Finish Festival, where they party with the Runicorn, dance, find unique photo opportunities and join in on massive color throws every couple of minutes! This is def our kind of marathon! 

The fun starts on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 9am! 

16. All-Star Gala in Support of Sick Kids

This year the Gala takes place at the gorgeous Arcadian Court and will again bring together an assortment of star athletes from hockey and other sports! All net proceeds will go to the Hospital for Sick Children and the event promises to be one of the most high profile Toronto galas of the year! Plus Arizona Coyotes centreman Peter Holland is the athlete ambassador for this years event! 

The Gala takes place on Friday, June 16th!

17. Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) 

The annual carnival that is The Ex is back again for another summer! Even though the end of summer can be sad, The Ex gives us something to look forward to! It runs from August 18th to September 4th and there is loads of fun to be had! With insane carnie treats, rides, entertainment, animals AND an air show, there is def something for the whole family!
