Have you heard of buttered or 'bulletproof' coffee yet? Since it's nutritionist-approved by our girl Jessica Morris Health, we've shared her recipe below! Find out what it is and why you need to try it now:
Buttered or ‘Bulletproof’ coffee is a hot topic these days (pun intended). Not only is this hot mixture good for cognitive function and sustained energy, but it tastes amazing and can improve your performance in the gym or at work!
If you haven’t heard of Bulletproof coffee, or what I like to call JMH Approved coffee, it is full of health benefits. Yes you can have your coffee and drink it too! By simply blending 1-2 cups of high quality organic, fair-trade brewed coffee with a tablespoon or organic virgin coconut oil for approximately 15 seconds (vegan-friendly version) and/or adding a 1-2 tsp of unsalted grass-fed butter to the mix, will create a creamy and frothy delicious cup of joe.
Why these ingredients? Coconut oil contains MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) which are easily converted by the liver and provide immediate energy to the body (similar to carbohydrates), while grass-fed butter is a healthy and energizing fat that is packed with CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) known to ward off fat and support lean muscle.
The many benefits of drinking coffee include mood elevation, increased energy and increased insulin sensitivity, which in turn, will help your body to burn more fat.
The role of caffeine in sports performance has been shown to help with boost endurance performance and reduce overall soreness and recovery time.

JMH Approved Coffee
1-2 Cups Brewed Organic, Fair-Trade Coffee (I enjoy bold or dark coffee)
1 -2 Tbsp Organic Virgin Coconut Oil (or MCT Oil)
1-2 Tbsp Unsalted Grass-fed Butter
Blend for approximately 15 seconds or until frothy.
