Despite the fact that we live in the great white north, there's little we love more in life than some good ol' southern comfort food.

As soon as we got word of a new restaurant in Toronto specializing in only the best of comforting meals 24/7, our ears perked and our eyes bulged.

Located along Dundas at Palmerston - an area that's quickly becoming a hot new restaurant row - Old School recently hosted a media preview of their new restaurant, and menu, that we were lucky enough to attend.

Executive Chef and Co-Owner Brad Moore (from favorites like SCHOOL restaurant in Liberty Village and RECESS) and Chef de Cuisine Ian Kapitan are churning out classic but contemporary Southern dishes like smoked ribs, turkey and chicken; pulled pork topped waffles, fried chicken and waffles, juicy sliders and a whole breakfast and bunch menu with a host of treats baked hot and fresh every morning.

The sit-down space has a fun vibe with patterned benches, a wild chalkboard wall and cheeky sayings written out in playful neon lights. Upon entering the restaurant you'll find the small and sleek crescent shaped bar that features homemade phosphate sodas. In the back of the restaurant, 24/7 take out is available (insert hallelujah emoji here) and they have brilliantly set up a general store, where you can stock up on goods such as syrups, sauces, pies and fresh meat.

Old school is officially in session, so head over and visit the new kid on the block – you’ll probably see us there at 3am eating chicken and waffles, so come say hi!

Old School is located at 800 Dundas St. West, click HERE for more info.

You realize the owners are being sued for plagiarizing the two pieces of neon art you have pictured in this article? On top of all the other things they do wrong, they also steal art. Zero reason to support this place.
